In fiction, vampires are often associated with the moon. Because they are nocturnal, vampires are said to have a special relationship with the moon.
In “The Vampyre,” John Polidori used the moon to revive Lord Ruthven, a vampire killed in the course of the story. He was taken to a hill so that his body could be exposed so the moon’s rays would revive him.
This interpretation of the moon and its association with vampires was taken by many writers throughout history.
