“Buffy the Vampire Slayer” is a TV series that premiered on March 10, 1997. The series was created by writer-director Joss Whedon. The show had relatively low ratings on the major stations- ABC, CBS, NBC, and Fox, but had success when it aired on the WB (now the CW).

The Buffy series averaged between $3-$5 million viewers a year between 1997 and 2003.

“Angel” was the largest spinoff that was created from “Buffy.”

The series follows Buffy Summers (played by Sarah Michelle Gellar), who is a part of the latest in a line of young women known as “Vampire Slayers.”
