A wealthy man who lived in the twelfth century in Berwick in the northern part of England near the Scottish border. After his death, the townspeople reported seeing his body roaming throughout the streets at night, keeping the dogs barking and howling at all hours of the night.

The townspeople feared the the plague would spread, they decided to dismember the body and burn it.

When the body was destroyed, the body no longer appeared walking through the town, but disease did spread throughout the town. The townspeople claimed it was the after-effects of the vampire’s presences.
